Customize the Feedburner Email Subscription Form

021st Dec 2008Web Design

Just added the Feedburner email subscription feature to offManhattan, which is running on WordPress.

I have tweaked the code a bit to get gray text prefilled within the form field, and when you click on it the text disappears. It lets the form be a lot smaller. Check it out in action at offManhattan.

Here’s the code you can use for this (of course, replace the “feedId” to the one in your code.

<form style=”border:1px solid #ccc;padding:3px;text-align:center;” action=”http://www.feedburner.com/fb/a/emailverify” method=”post” target=”popupwindow” onsubmit=”window.open(‘http://www.feedburner.com/fb/a/emailverifySubmit?feedId=1216437′, ‘popupwindow’, ‘scrollbars=yes,width=550,height=520′);return true”><p><input type=”text” name=”email” value=”Enter your email address” style=”width: 150px; color: gray;” onfocus=”this.value=”; this.onfocus=null;”/></p><input type=”hidden” value=”http://feeds.feedburner.com/~e?ffid=1216437″ name=”url”/><input type=”hidden” value=”offManhattan” name=”title”/><input type=”hidden” name=”loc” value=”en_US”/><input type=”submit” value=”Subscribe” /></form>
